Through retirement, Wendy Repovich continues to serve our students and EWU. She recently started an endowed scholarship in Exercise Science to support future generations of students just like her.
Growing up with three brothers, Wendy embraced competition in sports and developed an athletic ability through competitive and synchronized swimming that later defined her career. She resolved to become a PE teacher.
After receiving her bachelor's in physical education, Wendy accepted a two-year post with the Peace Corps as a competitive synchronized swimming coach in the Dominican Republic, offering the opportunity to travel while honing her teaching skills. Then, she pursued her master's in Exercise Science/Physiology, where she gained experience with the local cardiac rehabilitation program, testing and creating exercise prescriptions for patients—an experience that inspired her to pursue her doctorate.
Wendy's education journey led her to EWU, where she served as professor in the Exercise Science program for over 26 years, retiring in 2016. During her tenure at EWU, Wendy advised over 1,000 students in the program. Her commitment to EWU and our students continues in retirement by serving on the boards of the EWU Retirees Association and EWU Foundation.
Wendy maximizes the impact of her philanthropy by directing appreciated assets—IRA charitable distributions and stock—to fund her scholarship. She has also included the EWU Foundation in her estate plans, ensuring her support continues long into the future.
